Los Angeles Dodgers roster news 2015: Brett Anderson bounces back from injury

After leaving their game against the Atlanta Braves last week, pitcher Brett Anderson managed to play again last Tuesday, even though his team Los Angeles Dodgers lost to Sonny Gray in a match held at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

It was reported earlier that Anderson had been hoping that he would not be on the disabled list and would be returning soon to the lineup after magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results showed no serious injury to his left Achilles tendon.

According to ESPN, the MRI only revealed an inflammation in the sheath surrounding his Achilles tendon.

In a 4-3 loss against the Braves last July 21, Anderson left in the third inning after feeling irritation on the area of his left Achilles tendon.

"It's one of the few parts of my body that I haven't ever had an injury, so I didn't know what to expect. That was a new one, so it was a little bit concerning. ... I wouldn't say I'm 100% in the clear, (but) somewhat in the clear is reassuring," Anderson told reporters.

He added that the sheath around his tendon was intact despite a little inflammation; but that it was something that he would need to monitor and add to the checklist of things he needed to accomplish on a day-to-day basis.

Anderson's injury worried Dodgers manager Don Mattingly since starters Brandon McCarthy and Hyun-Jin Ryu were already out for the season due to injuries.

"I'm pretty concerned with the state of the rotation at this point. We've had injuries, and we're getting deeper and deeper into it. As consistent as Brett has been, we're kind of counting on him to be that guy throwing six or seven innings, keeping us in the game," Mattingly shared with reporters last week.

Fortunately, the injury turned out to be nothing serious and Anderson managed to immediately get back to the lineup to continue the season as a starter.
