Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole's baby is rumored to have an unusual name

Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole have reportedly named their first child, a boy, Bear Payne.

According to The Sun, the couple decided on the unusual name after having spent a week to get to know their baby boy, who was born on March 22. An unnamed source said that Payne and Cole did not want to name their baby until after they got to know him better.

Other than both announcing that their baby was born in March, the two have remained relatively quiet about their child. Mirror previously published that the two would not be sharing any other photos of their newborn to keep him out of the limelight.

The name may not be common, but Payne and Cole will not be the first couple to name their child Bear, should this rumor be proven true. According to MailOnline, other celebrities who have given the same name to their offspring are Kate Winslet and Alicia Silverstone. Jamie and Jools Oliver, meanwhile, gave the name Buddy Bear to their son, who is now five years old.

Discovery Channel's Bear Grylls tweeted Payne to congratulate him and Cole for the birth of the child. In his reply, the One Direction singer seemingly confirmed the name, saying, "Thanks man hope he grows with an ounce of your courage! Your [sic] a boss."

The Sun's source said that the couple are "over the moon" about being first-time parents. They are also reportedly planning to get married in an intimate ceremony, according to OK! The article stated that Cole did not want a "circus," given that this would be her third marriage. However, it also said that Payne wanted a big wedding.

In a previous article, The Sun cited a radio interview of Payne, in which he said that he would prefer a neutral name for their child. "I like the name Taylor. Taylor's pretty neutral for a boy or a girl. That's what I'm going to call my first child if I had children," he said. Cole, meanwhile, said in an interview with GQ that she liked the name Alfie.

Neither Payne nor Cole has confirmed if they named their child Bear.
