Motorola Mobility has already been acquired by Lenovo, and fans are wondering how the tech conglomerate will integrate its own lineup into the different Moto series. Speculations suggest that for the mid-range segment, Lenovo will rebrand the Moto E 2016 as the Vibe C2.
Mobipicker believes that a lineup remodeling has long been in the pipeline ever since Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility. This is already seen in the recent flagship shift in the Moto series, as Lenovo debuts the new Moto Z lineup. According to the industry observer, the next in line is the entry-level Moto E series, as Lenovo may be planning to rebrand the lineup as the Vibe C. Reportedly, the supposed 2016 edition of the Moto E will be dubbed as the Vibe C2 upon release.
There is already a rumored specs sheet circulating online about the Lenovo Vibe C. Speculations suggest that the new entry-level Vibe handset will be launched with a MediaTek MT6735P chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM. The rest of the specs are also base model-guaranteed, seeing as the new Lenovo Vibe will have 8GB and 16GB storage versions with microSD support, a 5-inch, 720p display, and a regular 2,750-mAh battery.
However, it is said that the specs sheet comes under model numbers XT1700 and XT1706. The models, although under the Vibe series, looks similar to the previous Moto E model versions like XT15015 and XT1524. Phone Arena even has the rumored press renders of the upcoming device.
Meanwhile, Lenovo has yet to comment on the rumors that it will discontinue the Moto E lineup. While the company may indeed rebrand the entry-level series, it may also choose to continue the lineup and offer the Moto E as another budget-friendly series. Lenovo has already gone down this path with the Moto Z/Moto X flagships, as the company has already confirmed that rather than being a replacement, the Moto Z will be an additional flagship lineup instead, and the Moto X series will still continue.
