Lamar Odom is 'doing better,' says Khloe Kardashian

It has been almost a month since Lamar Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel after an accidental overdose. Since then, the former NBA player has been at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and is being cared for by family and friends, including his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian.

In an interview with "Extra's" Terri Seymour, Kardashian gave an update about how the 36-year-old is doing. Earlier this month, it was reported that Odom had been undergoing physical therapy as he reportedly suffered a dozen strokes after his overdose, which affected his mental and physical capabilities.

"He's definitely doing better, which is awesome," said Kardashian. She revealed that Odom is off of all the machines and that "he is alive on his own, and no machines are helping him" but he still needs to go through physical and cognitive therapy sessions to recover.

Kardashian said that it's going to be a long time before Odom fully recovers.

"It's gonna be a long, long time," she said. "Every day is different—some days he's really strong, and some days he's weaker than the day before 'cause it's mentally draining, I'm sure, on him."

On what will happen next regarding the athlete's treatment, the reality star said that Odom will try to learn how to walk and that when the time comes when he can walk on his own or with some assistance, then he will most likely leave the hospital and continue to do "a lot of cognitive and mental strengthening."

Meanwhile, a source told Hollywoodlife that while Odom is doing better, he is by no means back to his old self. The source said that standing and walking for long periods of time has been a struggle for the father of two. The insider also revealed that talking to some extent has been difficult for Odom and that his memory has been affected.

"To be honest, he may never fully recover," said the source.
