Lamar Odom update: Former NBA player's speech 'has dramatically improved'

Earlier this month, it was reported that Lamar Odom had left Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles but is still undergoing rehab to improve his motor and cognetive skills.

TMZ reports that the 36-year-old is now living in a home which his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has leased for him. The property is said to be just blocks away from the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star's home in The Oaks, an exclusive gated property.

While Odom is said to still have a long way to go, a source told E! News that the former NBA player is "doing much better."

"His speech has improved dramatically," said the insider. "He still has a long way to go, but his progress over the past month has been great."

The source adds that Kardashian continues to be by Odom's side as he continues to work on getting better.

"They are just so close right now. If he is not in therapy, he is often with her."

In October, the father of two was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel after an accidental overdose. It was reported that the former athlete was in a medically induced coma and placed on life support in a hospital in Las Vegas for a few days before regaining consciousness. He is also said to have suffered a dozen strokes and kidney failure. Since his first hospital stay, Kardashian has reportedly been making decisions about his health since they are not yet officially divorced.

In an interview with Lara Spencer on "Good Morning America" earlier this month, Kardashian revealed that Odom is "doing really well" and that while he's doing great, "it's a long journey" and that his recovery is something that the former athlete has been working on.

"As long as he's willing to fight it and constantly better himself, that's all I can ask for," the reality star said.
