Apple will reportedly introduce major improvements and redesigns for its next flagship that it will skip the expected iPhone 7s lineup. Instead, the company will jump straight into developing the iPhone 8.

According to PC Advisor, the upcoming 2017 iPhone will feature major overhaul on its specs and design and will break away completely from the established iPhone series. The major improvements are part of Apple's celebration of the 10-year anniversary of its only smartphone lineup.

Allegedly, the new iPhone will introduce a revolutionary design, an all-glass build with the specs and display sandwiched in between. In addition, the iPhone 8 will reportedly revamp its display, featuring a larger screen-to-body ratio, and may even incorporate its Touch ID scanner into the display glass itself. This will eliminate the home button, which will greatly expand the iPhone 8's display. There are also rumors claiming that the Cupertino-based tech giant will be switching from LCD to OLED displays, which also supports the speculations for an edge-to-edge display.

Meanwhile, it is also said that the 2017 iPhone will introduce new specs and features for the lineup, such as wireless charging, the expected A11 chipset, and at least 4 GB of RAM, with up to 256 GB of onboard storage.

Aside from the iPhone 7s, it is also said that Apple's major revamp for the iPhone 8 will also affect the release of another lineup, the iPhone SE. MacRumors mentions that since Apple is focusing on the iPhone 8, the tech maker is likely to maintain high margins for the top-tier series. This is possible if the company is highlighting only one series, hence Apple will likely decide to skip a new edition for the iPhone SE. In addition, it is said that the iPhone 8 will launch with three variations, with a 4-inch version replacing the supposed iPhone SE refresh.

The iPhone SE was introduced in March this year, and with Apple's known schedule, a yearly cycle for the series is expected.
