iPhone 7 rumours: New Apple invention Liquidmetal to be integrated?

Will the new iPhone 7 finally feature a 3D display screen? Apple

The iPhone is arguably the most popular phone out right now. It is so popular, in fact, that talks of the next generation start soon as a new version comes out.

The iPhone 7 is no exception. Even with the iPhone 6s only a few months old, speculations around the iPhone 7 have already started, one of which revolve around the model's finish.

The iPhone has gone through several finishing changes: from plastic to stainless steel, and to the current aluminum composite frame, which has been the body design of the iPhone since the 5s. But rumour has it that Apple Inc. has been experimenting on an amorphous metal alloy called Liquidmetal that they will be using on the iPhone 7.

A new patent had emerged describing what the next iPhone might look and feel like. The US Patent & Trademark Office has just posted a patent from Apple Inc. titled "Methods and Systems for Integrally Trapping a Glass Insert in a Metal Bezel."

In the said document, the Cupertino-based company will be using a combination of aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and zirconium to create an iPhone case that has no gaps between the glass and the Liquidmetal.

There are several illustrations, too, that show how Apple hopes to achieve this feat. There are also a few important pieces of information, like credits to inventor Kyle H. Yeates. What's not in the document, though, is if the said patent will actually be used for the iPhone 7. There's always a possibility of the new invention being incorporated into other products, existing or upcoming.

Aside from this latest, though, a few other rumours have already surfaced regarding the said phone. A previous report has hinted at wireless charging and the exclusion of a headphone port, which means there might also be a wireless headset.

Forbes also reported that the tech giant might also start utilising AMOLED displays in the next iPhone.

All these reports should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed by Apple Inc. just yet. Stay tuned for more iPhone 7 reports.
