iPhone 7 release date, specs rumors: New flagship lineup to include a Pro device?

With some tech giants already outing their flagship releases for this year, most tech observers are now expecting Apple to come out with a follow-up in their iPhone series. The Cupertino-based company seems up to the challenge, as fresh speculations suggest that Apple is thinking of expanding its upcoming iPhone 7 lineup with a Pro edition.

According to MacRumors, noted Apple observer and KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo issued new statements about the upcoming iPhone 7 lineup. Reportedly, instead of just two iterations, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, there will be an additional premium version, a so-called "iPhone 7 Plus Pro." Kuo stated that this top-tier iPhone will be almost similar to the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of dimensions and specs. However, instead of a single iSight camera on the back, the "Pro" edition will have a dual-cam setup.

While it is unclear if Apple plans to release this so-called "iPhone 7 Plus Pro" in September, some observers are saying that the Cupertino-based company may have already taken the expansion too far.

According to Know Your Mobile, the fragmentation that started with the iPhone 6 lineup diluted the interest of some of the fans, since the two current iterations – the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus – are considered to both have disadvantages. The industry follower cited that while most fans prefer the dimensions of the iPhone 6 and 6s, Apple decided to fragment the lineup by only introducing OIS camera features in the iPhone 6 Plus, whose larger display may be taken as a negative point by some fans.

With the rumored appearance of the iPhone 7 Plus Pro, the lineup is allegedly diluted even more.

Fool.com shares this disappointment, adding that other than the camera upgrade, the supposed specs and dimensions of the "Pro" edition seem to be on par with the iPhone 7 Plus, whose iSight camera is already above-average.
