Apple Inc. released the iOS 8.2 beta 5 early this week, less than a month after it seeded the fourth beta. The fifth iteration was released to registered developers as an over-the-air update, promising several improvements and bug fixes to the current mobile operating system for Apple products like the iPad and iPhone.
MacRumors mentioned that the fifth beta for iOS 8.2 comes with the WatchKit SDK that allows developers to make new apps, dubbed as Glances, as well as notifications meant for the Apple Watch that is expected to launch sometime this year.
The article also mentioned that the iOS 8.2 beta 5 deals with the bug that blocks Facebook from working as it should. Based on the report, it fixes the earlier GMT bug that affects the calendar syncing in iOS 8, and offers various major improvements in five categories, namely: contacts, health, messages, calendar, as well as miscellaneous settings.
The new iOS update beta reportedly includes the option of customizing the notifications in the message settings to allow users to choose how they want their message alert to appear in the upcoming Apple Watch.
Since Apple already released the fifth beta for iOS 8.2, a lot of developers are expecting to see the update released to the public soon since the tech giant normally releases six to seven betas before its final unveiling. Speculations suggest that the iOS 8.2 release date might be scheduled in the second week of March.
French website iGen posted an unverified piece of information, allegedly from a credible source, saying that the Cupertino-based company may be scheduling a launch event before February ends. It could be set sometime before the 2015 Mobile World Congress.
If these rumors are true, Apple users should expect iOS 8.2 to come out in just a few weeks from now.
