Intel is introducing its new Skylake processor to the market, and it's bringing a bundle of new features and upgrades along with it.
To begin with, Intel's new Skylake processor will be providing a significant improvement over the company's offering from last year, Broadwell.
According to Wired, Skylake presents about a 10 percent improvement in terms of speed and enough of an upgrade in the graphics department, a change which dedicated gamers will most certainly appreciate.
Performance boosts are welcome with any new processor but their effects would be tempered if the issue of battery efficiency was not addressed, and this is something Intel appears to have noticed when it comes to their latest offering.
The new Skylake processor reportedly provides 30 percent better battery life if Intel is to be believed, although that claim may be a bit too optimistic, according to Digital Trends.
Intel has also taken notice of the fact that more and more units will be using the Windows 10 operating system (OS) and they have adjusted Skylake accordingly. The new processor has reportedly been made with the new OS in mind, allowing it to work more efficiently. Skylake even possesses a digital signal processor that has also been designed specifically to be used in conjunction with Cortana.
Skylake has also been made to handle 4K video very capably, allowing it to play that kind of content without eating too much into the battery.
The new processor from Intel will also reportedly allow owners to enjoy some next-level tech features with their units, according to Gizmodo.
What this means is that owners may soon be able to wake up their Windows 10-equipped computers from sleep mode by simply ordering Cortana to wake up.
Users may even become capable of logging into their accounts by simply looking at their computers as long as there is an Intel RealSense camera present.
Skylake is expected to arrive for Apple devices by next year.
