It is said that Apple will be having a new press launch this week to focus on the new laptop and desktop lineups. However, speculations suggest that only the new Macbooks will take center stage, as the 2016 iMac may have a delayed release.

According to MacRumors, KGI Securities analyst and noted Apple soothsayer Ming-Chi Kuo stated that while it is true that Apple is coming out with an overhauled iMac, the new desktops are still in production. While the new desktops may also share the stage with the new MacBooks, the 2016 iMacs will reportedly have a delayed release, and they will not be ready until early next year. This means that only the new Mac laptops, including the 2016 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, will be scheduled for late 2016 release.

Apple's supposed press launch is scheduled on Oct. 27.

The industry follower quoted Kuo as saying: "We also expect Apple to launch new iMacs (21.5-inch and 27-inch) and Cinema Display (27-inch) in mid- 1H17. We cannot say for certain whether Apple will announce the new iMacs and Cinema Display on October 27 as the shipping schedule is not imminent."

While remaining unconfirmed, a delay due to production is highly likely as the 2016 iMac is said to feature major improvements over its predecessors. The new edition of desktops will supposedly come out with top-tier changes like a newer, standalone 5K display, as well as discrete AMD-based graphics units. In addition, it is already expected that the new desktops will feature the new, seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake chipsets, as well as a number of RAM and onboard storage configurations. Speculations also suggest that with top-tier specs, the new desktops will have VR content support.

The 2016 iMac is also expected to debut with the new macOS Sierra. Meanwhile, other improved specs and features include USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3 support, and a likely USB Type-C port.
