Huawei's sub-brand Honor has just released View10, a smartphone that emphasizes its use of artificial intelligence (AI). The phone is expected to compete with the specifications of Samsung and Apple flagship phones, but for a much lower price.
The Honor View10, or V10, is the company's current flagship phone. One of its main features is the AI that can manage most of the aspects of the phone, from locking the screen to taking photos.
In the launch event for the V10, Honor claimed that the phone's AI could detect the scenes the camera sees and optimize the shots accordingly. It comes with a ton of ease-of-use features that are managed by the AI, as well. For example, the "intelligent rotate" function can prevent the screen from accidentally changing orientation when used in bed.
The V10 also comes with "3D Facial Animation," a feature that tracks the user's facial features and maps it onto an animated 3D animal — similar to the iPhone X Animoji feature.
The phone features a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It sports a full high-definition (HD) resolution of 2160 x 1080. The screen is sharp and clear on the default settings, but the phone allows users to tweak some display settings like the color balance.
The V10's rear camera has a dual-lens setup, with one 20-megapixel and one 16-megapixel lens. Selfies can be taken with the 13-megapixel front camera.
Both the front and rear camera can work with the AI to take intelligent photos. The software can also apply depth-of-field effects on portrait shots.
A Kirin 970 processor runs all the nifty features of the phone, as well as the powerful AI. 3750mAh battery powers all of the components. This capacity promises longer battery life than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (with a battery capacity of 3300 mAh) and the iPhone X (2617 mAh).
The Honor V10 will be available on the market on Jan. 8 of next year. It will cost £449.99, or around $600.
