Speculations suggest that Huawei is readying a big press launch to coincide with the IFA event in September. Will this reveal new devices like the awaited Mate 9?

First-hand information from GSM Arena has confirmed that the China-based tech conglomerate is readying a big press launch event in September and has already started giving out press invites. The press event is said to be Huawei's opening presentation for the IFA 2016 event in Berlin, which takes place from Sept. 2 to Sept. 7.

Meanwhile, although Huawei has yet to reveal what products it will be launching at the event, the industry observer surmises that a Mate 8 successor is one of the most likely announcements. Although the Huawei Mate 8 has yet to turn a year old (it was launched in November 2015), it is believed that the current trend is for tech manufacturers to skew their established timeline releases in favor of earlier launches. Reportedly, Samsung will do it with the purported August launch of the Galaxy Note 7, and it is rumored that Apple may also be keen on revealing its new lineups much earlier than expected.

In addition, supposed leaks have started circulating on the supposed Huawei Mate 9 as early as April. According to speculations, analysts believe that the Mate 9 will be launching before the year ends, since it will be a flagship model that introduces the new, homegrown Kirin 960 chipset. The next-gen processor is said to incorporate new technology such as LTE Cat. 12 connectivity, as well as octa-core GPUs.

Since the Mate series is also one of the top-tier flagships for Huawei, it is also expected that heavy upgrades will also feature in the Mate 9's camera setup. The P9 lineup has a Leica-engineered dual-lens main camera. It is said that for the Mate 9, Huawei will feature a huge jump in image capture specs with a 20MP main shooter.
