HTC Bolt release date, specs, news: device teased in new leaks; is it launching late October?

HTC's first Android Nougat-run device, the HTC Bolt, is supposed to come out soon. Alleged leaks of its live images and specs support an imminent launch.

Perennial tipster and notorious leaker Evan Blass has managed to get some supposed real-life images, as well as specs, of the upcoming HTC Bolt. At first glance, the upcoming device may be mistaken as a flagship addition to the HTC lineup, since it greatly resembles the current-gen HTC 10 flagship. However, the upcoming iteration is the larger of the two, featuring a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution.

Looking at the specs and features list, the HTC Bolt is expected to be a mid-range iteration. While it remains unclear what chipset the new device will use, it will be paired with 3 GB of RAM and at least 64 GB of onboard storage. In addition, HTC has just collaborated with Google for a flagship device, the new Pixel lineup. Although, its 10 series is still a current-gen, top-tier flagship.

Meanwhile, the live images confirm previous rumors for the tech maker, that HTC will also follow Apple and Motorola in removing a signature feature. The HTC Bolt is revealed to come out without the standard 3.5mm audio jack. Motorola has done it in the past, while Apple has joined the bandwagon by coming out recently with the iPhone 7.

Other confirmed specs and features for the HTC Bolt include a single, bottom-placed speaker, signature BoomSound audio enhancement, a fingerprint scanner, and USB Type-C connectivity. There is also an 18-MP main shooter and 8-MP selfie camera. As a late 2016 release, it is also expected that the HTC Bolt will come out with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.

As to when fans can expect the HTC Bolt, it is supposed to come out soon, and it will be available as a global release.
