HTC Bolt release date, specs news: International version to be launched this week

HTC has officially confirmed that the HTC Bolt will be available as a global release.

HTC has announced today that the previously Sprint-exclusive HTC Bolt will have an international release version. Rebranded as the HTC 10 evo, the new iteration is considered an above-average handset, a mix of both previous- and current-gen flagship hardware and features.

With the newly-released iteration already announced by Sprint just weeks ago, most fans are already familiar with the HTC 10 evo. The new release has a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution, and the first HTC device (outside of the company-made Google Pixel flagship) to come out with the new Android Nougat 7.0 platform. The all-metal design, reminiscent of the HTC 10 flagship, is rounded off on the thin side, since the new iteration also features USB Type-C. One noted feature for the new device is the absence of standard 3.5-mm audio jack.

However, even with the flagship specs, HTC decided to integrate a previous-gen Snapdragon 810 processor, paired with 3 GB of RAM. This essentially puts the HTC 10 evo as a step-down variant. On the other hand, the new release is still above the HTC 10 Lifestyle, processor- and performance-wise.

With the announcement, HTC has confirmed previous rumors of the HTC Bolt going international. When reports of the series addition first floated, it was revealed that the new iteration is a Sprint exclusive. However, there were speculations and supposed leaks that point out the HTC Bolt being rebranded for an international release.

Meanwhile, although HTC has already confirmed the HTC Bolt is going for an international release as the HTC 10 evo, the tech maker has yet to come out with pricing and release schedule for the new iteration. With the HTC Bolt going for at least $600 at Sprint, it is expected that the HTC 10 evo will also be priced accordingly.
