The unveiling of HTC's newest flagship is fast approaching. HTC says that the upcoming HTC 10 is not a continuation of the One M series, but a rebranded and completely overhauled flagship.
How is the upcoming HTC 10 different from the current-gen HTC flagship, the One M9?
According to TechTimes, one of the most noted features of the HTC 10 is its performance upgrade. While the One M9 carries a top-tier processor, the Snapdragon 810 inside it is not the latest SoC version since Qualcomm already released its Snapdragon 820 chipset. The new chipset will be featured in the HTC 10.
While the consumer version of the HTC 10 has yet to be seen, what has been said of its performance and speed seems promising. The HTC 10 rated 156,901 in an AnTuTu benchmark test. The test score is significant, since this is way above the scores rated by some recently released flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5, which scored in the 130K range.
Meanwhile, Pocket-Lint states that based on HTC's previous teasers for the upcoming HTC 10, another main selling point of the iteration is its camera. The industry observer said that HTC overhauled the setup for its main shooter based on lukewarm feedback on the One M9's camera assembly. According to rumors, the HTC 10 will go back to the UltraPixel setup, with a 12MP shooter on the back featuring laser autofocus and dual-tone flash.
The other rumored specs of the HTC 10 are definite upgrades over the One M9. While the dimensions are reported to stay the same, the design and form factor of the HTC 10 are speculated to be taken from another HTC iteration, the One A9 – this means that the body profile will be slimmer and sleeker than the One M series of flagships. In addition, it is said that the HTC 10 will make the switch from an LCD panel to an AMOLED display.
The HTC 10 is said to be unveiled on April 12.
