"Homeland" is back for its fourth season, and the two-episode premiere couldn't have been better. But while the initial episodes were great, fans can look forward to even more exciting ones as it looks like it will all be going uphill from here on out.
The third episode for the new season is entitled "Shalwar Kameez," and the promo trailer shows a lot of what's to come next week. The late CIA chief Sandy Bachman is quite a precursor to the storylines.
Showtime's synopsis for "Shalwar Kameez" specifies two story arcs, one for Carrie and the other for Quinn. It says that Carrie will recruit a key asset. According to IBT, this asset will help her know the truth about Sandy and his sources, and about what happened before the drone struck at the wedding. Quinn is said to get closer to his lead.
Who can this key asset be? The promo hints that it could be one of the survivors named Aayan Ibrahim.
"You're in trouble, Aayan," says Carrie to someone who looks like a college student. "You are part of an important story. I want to be the one to tell it."
Carrie is able to convince Aayan to cooperate with her, and she starts digging into the truth about Sandy and why he is investigating within the CIA.
"Will someone please explain to me what the hell Sandy Bachman was doing here without protection?" Carrie asks.
One of her workers says that Sandy's intel was good, to which Carrie replies, "Maybe it was too good. No one wants to admit the possibility that he was spying right under our noses."
Meanwhile, Quinn goes through a rough time after Sandy's death. Carrie thinks that Quinn is having post-traumatic stress disorder, but Dar Adal thinks something is different.
Dar Adal talks to Quinn and says, "This isn't about PTSD. This is about your feelings for Carrie Mathison... If she hadn't been in that car, Sandy Beckham would be alive today... You took your eye off Sandy to save Carrie."
Quinn doesn't like the accusation one bit and he almost chokes Dar to death. However, Dar is pleasantly surprised at Quinn's reaction and says, "Well done, Peter. I knew you weren't that far gone."
"Homeland" season 4 episode 3 will also mark the reunion of Saul and Carrie in the field for the first time this season. Catch this episode on Oct. 12 on Showtime.
