'Heroes of the Storm': New patch adds more free hero slots

 Battle Net

There will now be more free hero slots inside "Heroes of the Storm."

The change comes via the latest patch released for the game.

According to Battle Net, the free to play Hero Rotation will now increase from the previous number of seven all the way up to 10.

New "Heroes of the Storm" players will start off with only six slots available, but as they reach levels 5, 7, 12, and 15, they will also gain access to the four additional slots available to others.

With more hero slots now available, Blizzard has also decided to rid the game of talent gating. Talent gating basically meant that players had to be at a certain level with each character in order to unlock his/her full potential. That's no longer the case, as all of the Hero Talents will now be available to players no matter what their account level is.

While the additional slots and the removal of talent gating may appease the majority of "Heroes of the Storm" players, there is at least one new wrinkle that is not as well received.

Currently, some players have expressed frustration over the unlocking mechanics of the new Vulture mount being made available in "Heroes of the Storm."

In order to unlock the mount, players have to first utilize the newly introduced Recruit a Friend feature in "Heroes of Storm" to encourage four of their acquaintances to sign up for the game, but that's not the end of it. All four of the new recruits also have to be at level 10 at least before the Vulture mount is unlocked for the recruiter, according to Kotaku.

On top of all that, the new recruits must be signed up before they even reach level 5 in order for them to count toward the recruiter's total. The feature also does not account for recruits whom a "Heroes of the Storm" player may have encouraged to sign up for the game prior to the patch being introduced, according to Gamespot.

The Vulture unlocking mechanic is not sitting well with many "Heroes of the Storm" players, and there's no word on whether it will be changed or not.
