The senior editor of Windows Central confirmed on a social media site that "Halo Wars 2" will be coming to Steam.

Jez Corden affirmed the news on Twitter. He also implied that the reason for this decision was the low sales of the game on Windows. He also stated that Microsoft is currently working out a way in order for cross-connectivity between Steam and Windows 10 so that users of both gaming platforms will be able to play the game with each other. However, he did not reveal when the Steam version of the game will come out.

The decision to release the game may be due to the sales of "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition," of which 50,000 were bought on that gaming platform. Overclock3d only noted negative feedback on the Windows 10 Store, including its bad user interface design and its forcing of Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps to players.

"Halo Wars 2" was released for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC in February.

In other news, Dan Ayoub, 343 Industries' head of strategy game development and a developer who worked on "Halo" games, has announced his departure from the game franchise. However, he will continue to be part of Microsoft, although this time, he will be joining the Mixed Reality Division, which explores the role of virtual reality in education.

The studio released an official statement regarding his departure, which was published on IGN. It reads, "Over the years, Dan has helped us work with amazing studios and partners from literally every corner of the globe. They, like us are going to miss him, and Dan wanted us to express his thanks to both those partners, and to all the Halo fans and community who've been the fuel and fire that have ignited his passion and ambition, throughout the years."
