'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 spoilers: Creator Shonda Rhimes dismisses Katherine Heigl return

Hurray! ABC Network has confirmed that "Grey's Anatomy" has been renewed and will return for two more seasons. ABC also adds that the 11th season will have 24 episodes.

Just like any other season, there will be new doctors to meet and old doctors will be axed. Shane (Gauis Charles) and Leah (Tessa Ferrer) will not be returning in Season 11. Their characters were fired in Season 10 and that's pretty much it for them.

A veteran "Grey's Anatomy" character also left in season 10. Dr. Christina Yang's exited the hospital to pursue a new career path, similar to what colleague Dr. Burke did.

Sandra Oh's absence in "Grey's Anatomy" will surely add to Meredith Grey's character, now that her best friend has left the building. Dr. Christina Yang was always there for Meredith. Who will Meredith turn to now? Will she find a new confidant?

With the revelation of which doctors are leaving, the introduction of the new doctors is still a mystery. There's still no confirmation from the show's producers.

However, rumors of the return of Katherine Heigl were slammed by Shonda Rhimes, executive producer of Grey's Anatomy. When a fan on Twitter told Rhimes "You better not disappoint me" pointing to Heigl's return, Rhimes replied with "I totally won't. Um. Because she's probably not coming back."

Meanwhile, four regular cast members have confirmed that they will be returning for Season 11 and 12. Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr, Sara Ramirez and Justin Chambers have signed a new two-year contract. They will be joining Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Demsey as they signed their new contracts back in January.

Filming for the new season has started. "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 will return in the fall.
