Fans will not that have long to wait for Google's next flagship smartphone lineup as it is already expected that the Pixel and Pixel XL iterations will debut early next month.
According to WCCFTech, Google has already confirmed that a press event will be held on Oct. 4. While the tech giant has yet to release its showcase plans, fans already expect that the new Pixel and Pixel XL flagships will take center stage during the said event. Aside from the refreshed Nexus 7 tablet, no other flagships are on Google's schedule.
In addition, supposed leaks of the specs and features of the Pixel and Pixel XL devices keep on popping up online, further fueling rumors of their imminent release. The supposed leaks touched on the flagship specs of the Pixel and Pixel XL. Reports suggest that, as top-tier offerings, the Pixel and Pixel XL will feature the latest Snapdragon 821 processor paired with at least 4 GB of RAM. In addition, it is expected that the new flagship will carry the stock, bloatware-free Android Nougat platform. It is even suggested that Google will feature an already-updated Android 7.1 version for the new flagships.
While the unveiling is scheduled early next month, it is also expected that the Pixel and Pixel XL will be out in the market even before October ends. Google has its own online store where it can immediately list unlocked versions of the Pixel and Pixel XL right after their debut. Pre-orders for the new flagships are expected to go live on the unveiling day itself, with the devices shipping out just weeks after the Oct. 4 debut.
Aside from the Pixel and Pixel XL devices, Google may also launch a new, 7-inch tablet at the press event. However, instead of the expected follow-up to the successful Nexus 7 slate, the new tablet may also be rebranded, falling under the new Pixel lineup.
