Another "Game of Thrones" theory is gaining popularity — this time it has something to do with what the fate of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in the upcoming and final season of the show.

It seems that some fans think that Arya would die in season 8 of HBO's "Game of Thrones," despite being quite a formidable assassin. Apparently, it has something to do with her being connected to one of the supposed Azor Ahai candidates, or "the prince that was promised" who has been prophesied in the show and the novels to be the rightful ruler and heir to the Iron Throne who will bring order to the land.

Maisie Williams herself may have dropped some hints about her character's death during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, further strengthening speculations.

Reddit user ascott767 suggested that the Azor Ahai could be Gendry (Joe Dempsie) since he is technically a prince despite being Robert Baratheon's (Mark Addy) bastard son. The theory is that Gendry will be legitimized as a prince by Jon Snow after predictions that Jon and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) will be killed in the battle against the Night King.

As such, the prophecy of the Azor Ahai is for him or her to kill their loved one in order to forge the weapon that will be able to defeat the Night King. Arya is said to be Gendry's loved one come season 8, meaning the two might also share a few romantic scenes before the tragic twist. Based on the past seasons of the show, the two have also shown a plausible chemistry toward each other.

"So for all intents and purposes, Gendry is a prince. Now, it's told that Azor Ahai must forge his weapon by killing someone he/she loved with it so this theory is that in season eight, Gendry and Arya will have a bunch of flirtations that turn out to be love. Jon, Dany, and the dragons all die leaving Gendry to lead with Davos and Jaime advising him. Jon legitimizes Gendry from his deathbed. Gendry will kill Arya fulfilling the prophecy and making him Azor Ahai reborn," according to the suggestions in Reddit.

Should Gendry defeat the Night King, he will then be crowned as the King of Westeros at the expense of Arya though. All these are just theories for now, however, and fans will have to wait for next year to see how the story does turn out.
