'Fortnite: Battle Royale' news: 'PUBG' rival gets jetpacks in-game

"Fornite: Battle Royale" is keeping the pressure on "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG"), as the battle royale game will introduce a slew of new features that would perhaps never be available on "PUBG."

One such addition is the jetpack for the game, which will allow players to jump around the map in great heights, adding to their mobility and definitely making the game more fast-paced. Granted, this might be "Fortnite: Battle Royale's" answer to "PUBG's" staple vehicles which have been available since it first appeared. This is because the developers of "Fortnite: Battle Royale" have admitted that they still have no plans of adding vehicles to the game.

So for now, jetpacks will have to do, though they seem to be arguably more fun than the clunky and wheeled death traps of "PUBG." It should be noted that the jetpacks are not exactly in the game right now, but the developers are planning to add it in future updates, which means soon. The announcement was made in-game after the login screen that showed the jetpack icon had a caption of "coming soon" in the New Updates section of the game's user interface (UI).

Despite it not being in-game yet, players can already get an idea of how jetpacks will drastically alter the battle royale formula, in which players can now get a forced height advantage with the use of jetpacks and can even defeat players camping on the higher ground with ease as long as they have the device.

Apart from a height advantage which the jetpacks can bring, players will also be able to move around the map a lot faster, which can come in handy since the game has a restrictive round perimeter on the map and anyone caught outside the circle will have their health drained until they eventually die or find a way inside. Those who play the genre will know that staying inside the safe zone circle is half the game.

Players should stay tuned to the developers for updates on the jetpacks release, since it may just be around the corner.
