"For the King," the strategic role-playing game (RPG) that blends tabletop and roguelike elements developed and published by IronOak Games, is scheduled to leave Steam Early Access in April.
Eurogamer reported that IronOak Games announced "For the King" will be leaving Steam Early Access in "early April." Moreover, the game developer is planning to release versions of the game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One in 2019.
According to the Steam page of the game, "For the King's" story starts with the murder of the king of Fahrul in the hands of an unknown perpetrator. The once peaceful kingdom was now in chaos. With the queen left on her own to rule the troubled kingdom, players must help her protect the kingdom from the forthcoming doom.
Players may choose between single player, local and online cooperative gameplay (co-op) modes. The make-shift party must devise a team strategy to accomplish the given tasks and at the same time, ensure the safety of the all the entire team — they may either split up to cover more ground or stick together for protection. Players are encouraged to find and gather herbs to heal wounds and cure illnesses. When the night falls, players can either set up safe camps or face the terror the dark brings.
"For the King" boasts the perfect blend of strategy, Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) combat and roguelike elements as mentioned earlier. The game features procedural maps (which includes sailing in the seas and going into the dark, underworld), quests and events as well as nefarious creatures to battle. Furthermore, the game features a fast-paced and vicious turn-based combat which uses a special slot system for attacks and special abilities.
The Steam Early Access for the game "For the King" currently retails at $14.99.
