Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao next fight: Fighters agree on venue?

Slowly but surely, hopes for the dream bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino Manny Pacquiao could be getting somewhere after the camps of the two fighters have reportedly agreed on the venue of the most sought after bout.

The LA Times revealed that the venue for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas which could in all likelihood happen on either May or June of this year.

"We're making progress," a boxing authority involved through a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Aside from that, a lot of other things remain unsettled, including the fight purse and the drug testing conditions. It will be recalled that Mayweather has demanded different kinds of drug test procedures to ensure that there are no performance enhancing drugs in used prior to the main bout. No details on what type of drug testing would be used has been reported thus far.

As for the purse split, it is no secret that Mayweather wants to get the larger chunk of the fight purse, probably 60-40 more or less to which the Filipino lawmaker is willing to oblige.

Further adding fuel to speculations was when Pacquiao said that he thinks the fight will happen while he was watching the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup finals match between the San Miguel Beermen and the Alaska Aces.

Roach, for his part, said that he has no idea of what is going on and the he and Pacquiao have not yet talked about the potential match.

As for the timetable of what the final word would be regarding the dream bout, everything could be in the clear in the next 10 days.

"The calendar is a factor," the official said of the urgency to finalize the deal soon, estimating it could get done in seven to 10 days.
