Joanna Gaines herself confirmed in a series of social media posts that "Fixer Upper" will be having a fifth season. What is more is that the show will be getting a spin-off featuring the behind-the-scenes work on each remodeled home featured on air.
Joanna said in a recent Twitter post, "Another #fixerupper reveal down today for Season five! @hgtv #seasonfiveiscoming," followed by a link to Instagram, which showed a photo of her and her husband Chip.

It said that HGTV originally requested the Gaines to shoot more "Fixer Upper" episodes. However, the couple insisted that they will not go beyond 16, which is the final number of episodes for season 5 of the show.
Aside from the fifth season of "Fixer Upper," Joanna will also be working on "Fixer Upper: Behind the Scene," which will focus on her as she comes up with the home designs of the houses she and Chip are working on in the show. Joanna also took to Instagram to give a teaser of what the show will be like.
Rumors of "Fixer Upper's" cancellation began when it was revealed that the Gaines are associated with the Antioch Community Church, which has made strong anti-homosexual statements in the past. Neither Chip nor Joanna said anything in public when this news broke. However, HGTV released a statement that the network does not discriminate against anyone belonging to the LGBT community.
"Fixer Upper" airs on HGTV. No details have been revealed yet on when season 5 of the show will premiere. However, following the previous seasons, it is likely that the first episode will air on either November or December, as the earlier seasons launched near the time of Thanksgiving. No date has also been given on when "Fixer Upper: Behind the Scene" will begin airing.
