'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie update: Director Gil Kenan reveals new production photos

Ever since the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie had been greenlit for production very few updates have been released regarding its development. However, director Gil Kenan has been able to showcase at least several photos via Twitter, indicating what fans may see when they watch the film in theaters.

Kenan's latest "Five Nights at Freddy's" tweet showcases a photo of an animatronic's head and the caption "Watch that thumb." This is likely an indication that the animatronic may bite the person holding the head up, a feature that is constantly referred to in the games.

As a matter of fact, one of the most iconic events in the franchise's lore is known as the "Bite of '87," where one of the animatronics bit the head of a child.

However, the animatronic shown in the photo is that of a human head and fans of the games will recall that all of the animatronics featured in "Five Nights at Freddy's" are based on animal mascots. This may be an indication that other types of animatronics will be on display in the film's setting.

Kenan also previously tweeted a GIF of his family out at Chuck E. Cheese's, a famous chain of family entertainment centers and restaurants. It is speculated by the fans that this will be the general design and tone that the film will try to emulate. The GIF in question showcases a young child running in an almost empty Chuck E. Cheese's at 9 p.m.

"Five Nights at Freddy's," particularly the first two games, involves a security guard watching over the establishment at night. However, during the night, the animatronics come alive and it is the guard's duty to keep the animatronics in place. It is hinted that these animatronics, including Freddy Fazzbear, have killed people in the past.

No specific release date has yet been announced, although the film is expected to be released this year.
