'Final Fantasy XV' is longer than 40 hours, assures Hajime Tabata

Final Fantasy XV

Just last week, a stream for "Final Fantasy XV" was released by Square Enix. Art director Yusuke Naora and world map director Yasuyuki Matsunami also shared the details about how big the world of "FFXV" will be.

The stream showed the visuals and it was indeed impressive. However, there's just one problem. Everything was in Japanese and when the game creators are talking, fans cannot understand what they're saying. It's kind of frustrating for fans to have to deal with the language barrier, especially when everyone is waiting for news about the game.

Well, there's great news now. Kotaku has made English subtitles for the video so fans can better understand what's being talked out. Further, there was a Q&A segment after the stream where game director Hajime Tabata answered four fan questions. The questions and answers have been translated into English too.

A fan asked what will happen if the attack button was repeatedly tapped instead of pressed. Tabata answered "When you repeatedly press the attack button, you can attack normally and execute combos. Sorry for the straight-forward answer."

"Depending on the timing of when you press the button, you can execute special moves like counters and parries. On the other hand, when keeping the button pressed, it is possible to conduct battle in a manner of reading your enemy's actions," he added.

The second question was about the Type-O HD. A fan wanted to know if it's downloadable and whether it will include the "FFXV" demo. Tabata simply answered with a "Yes."

The third question was about the user interface during the TGS demo. It seems like blocking required MP but there were no MP gauge during the demo. What's up with that?

Tabata explained that the UI was just temporary and was designed for the beta version. "The reason there was no MP gauge in the previous demo was because at the time of TGS, there were no plans to actually show combat. In the full version, there will obviously be an MP gauge, and the menus will be in a more proper format," he explained.

For the last question, Tabata addressed the issue of play time. A fan was worried that there was only 40 hours of play time to which Tabata explained that 40 hours is just for the main storyline. If the player was to explore the dungeons and other places, the game will take more than 40 hours.

There is still no definite release date for "Final Fantasy XV."
