'Final Fantasy VII Remake' rumors update: Game coming to Nintendo NX alongside 'Final Fantasy XV?'

While fans eagerly wait for the upcoming release of the much-improved and better-looking remake of "Final Fantasy VII," new rumors suggest that there may be a couple of surprises when the game launches, one of them being that the title will have its own Nintendo NX version.

According to reports, some fans speculate that with Nintendo and Square Enix already on good terms, the developer might release new titles for Nintendo's upcoming game system, the NX. Reportedly, since the new system will need some launch titles for its debut, chief among the games intended for its release will be two triple-A titles from Square Enix, "Final Fantasy XV" and "Final Fantasy VII Remake."

While there are no compelling confirmations of these rumors, the industry follower did say that recent developments between Nintendo and Square Enix give subtle hints. Allegedly, one of the things that make this rumor plausible is Square Enix's approval of Cloud Strife to be included as a DLC character in "Super Smash Bros." .

Coincidentally, Cloud Strife is also the main protagonist in fan-favorite "Final Fantasy VIII."

However, the rumors remain hearsays as Square Enix continues to be silent about "Final Fantasy VII Remake." The latest confirmed information that the developer leaked is that the upcoming title will come in parts, similar to how the company is publishing the new "Hitman" reboot.

While some fans are not happy about the multi-part offering, Square Enix quickly explained its decision, saying that the episodic roll-out of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is to fans' advantage. Writing on the official Square Enix blog, game director Yoshinori Kitase stated, "If we were to try to fit everything from the original into one remake installment, we would have to cut various parts and create a condensed version of 'Final Fantasy VII.' We knew none of you would have wanted that."
