"Fallout 4" players may have observed smooth gameplay and a number of other improvements in the PC version of the post-apocalyptic game. This is because the newest patch, 1.4, has just gone live, with the update for the console versions following soon.
According to GameSpot, the release of the new patch this early was already expected, since patch 1.4 already went through a series of stress tests in its beta release last week. Developer Bethesda made the new update version roll-out official, announcing that "Fallout 4's 1.4 update is now live and public on Steam. When we have more info on the console update, we will share info."
One of the enjoyable changes that update 1.4 brings is support for post-launch expansion content. This means that the updated PC version of "Fallout 4" will be ready to receive the upcoming DLC for the game. There are at least three confirmed DLC packs that will go live for the latest "Fallout" installment. The first one, "Automatron," will go live this month.
After "Automatron" releases, there are two more DLC packs that will come out in the succeeding months, "Wasteland Workshop" in April and "Far Harbor" in May.
Aside from DLC support, the industry follower also listed other changes seen in the patch notes for update 1.4. As with any new patch, the new update addresses a number of known game issues and applies fixes to glitches and bugs.
Since the console versions are also expected to receive the DLC packs, the new patch will go live for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game soon. In addition, Bethesda seems to have an additional surprise for console players.
According to IGN, the developer plans to insert the release of the much-anticipated modding support for the consoles in between DLC packs 1 and 2. This means that aside from getting new content in the expansion, players themselves can tweak the game itself and make "Fallout 4" more interesting.
