'Fallout 4' DLC news: First expansion 'Automatron' to arrive later this month; achievements and other details revealed

Developer Bethesda is keeping its promise to provide "Fallout 4" players additional content, as the first DLC, "Automatron" is set to arrive this month. Inching closer to the expansion's release date, details on it start to emerge.

According to Game Informer, players will have additional mission parameters for the "Automatron" DLC, as the expansion adds more achievements for "Fallout 4" players. Reportedly, the new content will add at least five new achievements for players to unlock, each one having to do with the robots that will plague the Wastelands in "Automatron."

The achievements range from completing DLC missions such as "Headhunting," to completing the "Robot Hunter" achievement by unlocking 10 Robot Mods.

Meanwhile, although Bethesda has yet to announce a release date for the "Automatron" DLC, observers say that it may even possibly roll out as early as next week. GameSpot says that one hint that the expansion is coming soon is Bethesda's recent roll-out of a new "Fallout 4" update. Patch 1.4 has just gone live for the PS4 and the Xbox One, and this is in preparation for upcoming expansion content for the game.

After patch 1.4 released for the PC version last month, Bethesda said that they will release the patch to the PS4 and Xbox One first, before rolling out "Automatron," as the patch unlocks DLC support for "Fallout 4."

Aside from unlocking DLC support, patch 1.4 also introduces a number of new fixes for known issues, as well as tweaks and gameplay enhancements for "Fallout 4."

"Automatron" is the first of three confirmed DLC packs for "Fallout 4," each DLC revealed to be released each month. After "Automatron" releases this March, the second expansion "Wasteland Workshop" will roll out next month. The third DLC, "Far Harbor," is slated to go live in May.
