As of now, talks between Facebook and the music companies are in the preliminary stages, according to The Verge. The framework of a possible deal for now is still nowhere near completion, but some of the details have been leaking out.
Facebook is reportedly offering a 45 to 55 percent split in ad revenue that will come from the music videos, which is the same deal YouTube currently has, though some have said the social media giant is willing to negotiate a friendlier deal for partners.
Facebook is also promising to further crack down on any forms of unauthorized content which may be harmful to its partners. The record companies will also have final say over which videos will be playing on Facebook.
What is currently rumored to be Facebook's latest move is being seen as the company's latest attempt to topple Google-owned YouTube as the top video site on the Internet, according to Business Insider.
Facebook has also been touting the number of video views they have been getting over the last few months, with the company now saying it streams an average of four billion videos a day.
Recently, reports have also come out, suggesting that Facebook was in the process of creating its own streaming music service similar to Spotify, but the company has said it has no such plans.
