Drew Barrymore can't wait to be 40, to act less to focus on kids

Drew Barrymore will reportedly be doing less movie projects as she has decided to focus more on her and husband Will Kopelman's two kids, 2-year-old Olive and 7-month-old Frankie.

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie of TODAY, she said, "I think I will act less and less... I find the hours at this point in my life too difficult with kids. It's hard to be present when you wake up before them and come home after they've gone to bed."

According to Barrymore, her non-traditional upbringing has influenced her decision to go for the traditional approach in parenting and to give her kids the opposite of what she experienced during her own childhood.

The 39-year old actress, best known for her roles in movies like "The Wedding Singer" and "Charlie's Angels," has been in the limelight for almost four decades. She had her first stint in a dog food commercial when she was just 11 months old, and had her big break at 7 when she was cast as Eliott's little sister Gertie in "E.T. the Extraterrestrial." From being famous, she later became infamous because of her involvement with alcohol and drugs. Having managed to bounce back — admirably at that — she made a string of successful movies, established the production company Flower Films, and she now also manages her own beauty brand Flower.

She and her hubby don't have plans of adding more to the brood at this time, but they are open to it either way.

"I'm open-minded about it," she said. "We're really happy with where we are... So I think if we got pregnant we'd be the happiest people on Earth, and then we'd just feel even luckier. I think we'd also be completely content to stay right where we are."

And while most women dread being 40, Barrymore looks forward to it, saying, "I'm so relieved to be 40. I've already started saying I'm 40 and my husband's like, 'Honey, you're still 39. Why are you saying you're 40?'... I'm just so excited! It feels good. It feels right."

The award-winning actress, director, producer and CEO will celebrate her 40th birthday on Feb. 22 next year.
