'Downton Abbey' season 5 Christmas Special: Lady Mary's new love interest? What happens to Anna and Allen?

Nov. 9 marked the season 5 finale of "Downton Abbey," but just like any other season enders, there are more questions than answers. Fans of the show are hoping they could get a glimpse of the answers they're looking for when the holidays arrive, which means when "Downton Abbey's Christmas Special" airs.

From the season 5 finale, fans were left wondering what will happen to Allen Leech. Is he really leaving? Also, what about Anna? She was charged for the murder of Mr. Green and in the finale, she was being brought to prison already. According to CarterMatt.com, Anna looked innocent but there's still the lack of information on the murder case.

Elsewhere, TV Line reports that someone new will be joining the cast for the season 5 Christmas special. He is Matthew Goode who plays Finn in "The Good Wife." This newcomer will actually play an important role in the special, says the site.

Goode's character will be a possible love interest for Lady Mary, who really doesn't have much luck on successful relationships. But if this love story works out, he could also be included in season 6. Could his schedule handle it though, since he is appearing in two TV shows?

According to CarterMatt, there will be a two month overlap between filming of the two shows, so Goode may have time to continue his role in "Downton Abbey." However, his coming back will ultimately depend on how his character and Lady Mary will connect in the Christmas special.

If fans can recall, Lady Mary already tried being in a romantic relationship. She tried with Tony Gillingham, but later on, she decided to go back to her old fiancé. As for Lady Mary and Charles Blake, they're more of friends, too.

There's really not much spoilers going around for "Downton Abbey Season 5 Christmas Special." But then again, it's just a month away from airing, so the wait is bearable.
