The LA Dodgers will take on the St Louis Cardinals on Friday night as the NL Championship Series starts with Game 1 at the Busch Stadium in Missouri. The teams will be playing a best of seven series to see who will win the right to compete in this year's World Series.

After months of games, it all comes down to this for these two teams, and they know they are just a series win away from a World Series appearance – something every player plays the game for!

The Cardinals have made it through to this game after emerging from arguably the toughest division in the MLB this season. They were given the challenge of taking on the Pirates, who proved a tough team to get past, and it took them all five games of the series to get beyond them in the National League Division Series.

Adam Wainwright helped the team to two of their three wins over the Pirates, showing how important he is to the Cardinals. He took part in 16 innings and managed 15 strikeouts, one walk and surrendered just two runs.

The Dodgers meanwhile took on the Braves, and had an easier time of it, managing to win the series in four games, winning 3-1.

Both teams will be wanting to get a good start to the series and will hope to win Game 1. Although it's a long journey to claiming the series, both teams know the importance of getting a good start in the series and both will be vying for the win tonight.

LA Dodgers vs St Louis Cardinals will start at 8.37 p.m. ET and can be watched on TBS, or the game can be watched on the MLB.tv network – free for those with subscription – by clicking here.
