'Destiny' DLC updates: Major update goes live on April 12

Bungie has revealed that a major update will roll out for the space-age, sci-fi shooter "Destiny" on April 12. The developer has also teased fans on what the new update will bring to the game.

According to EuroGamer, one of the new features that get unlocked with this month's major update is the introduction of Sterling Treasure, which is a loot bag of random items. However, while random, the pack will contain at least a piece of class-specific armor, with at least a 3-rate for attack and defense. There will also be two other in-game items, and each bag respawns the last two items randomly between in-game weapons gear, class items, and the new Chroma customization item. When the update rolls out, the Chroma item adds a tint of neon color – red, white, yellow, or blue – to specific armor sets. When used on weapons, the Chroma item can also paint a skin pattern on specific guns.

Detailed in the latest Bungie Weekly Update, the April 12 patch will let players earn a maximum of three Sterling Treasure packs each week. Playing at least one Crucible match in the Director list already guarantees one pack for the week. Meanwhile, two packs will also be available for Guardians who visit the Postmaster in the Tower or the Reef, or complete the mission successfully from the new Level 41 Prison of Elders.

There will also be a number of new weapons that will be added in the upcoming update, as well as an upgrade for Year One Exotics. Bungie has yet to come out with a complete list of all the new and upgraded items in the April update, but one of the weapons that the developer teased on is the Taken Sword.

Aside from introducing new items, the major update also adds tweaks and improvements to the gameplay, system, and design of "Destiny." Item hoarders will get a surprise, as Bungie additionally revealed that the Vault Space for the players will be expanded. With the major update, there will be one additional tab specific for Weapons, Armor, and General items.
