Developer Bungie has already confirmed that a sequel to its futuristic action shooter "Destiny" is scheduled for release next year. Meanwhile, it is expected that "Destiny 2" will feature major improvements, including a PC release.

According to PCGamesN, it is likely that publisher Activision will include a PC release for "Destiny 2." Supposedly, instead of a direct sequel, the upcoming game will start as a clean slate for hardcore fans. This means that even if a new version is released for PC players, the fans will not have a hard time in adapting to the gameplay and design of the new title, since all the players will have to start from scratch.

The current "Destiny" game is a console-exclusive game for both previous-gen Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as the Xbox One and PS4.

This is in line with other speculations about the game. Supposedly, the major content expansions for "Destiny" have already made story progressions for the title. For "Destiny 2," developer Bungie is said to explore all-new content, down to the design, gameplay, story, and characters. However, it is likely that with most of hardcore fans already investing effort and time in the current title, it is possible that Bungie will offer a port feature for the sequel. This will make current players able to transfer their old characters, gears and weapons, and even inventory, into the sequel.

As to when fans can expect "Destiny 2," it is said that it will appear by the latter part of 2017. It is likely that the sequel will appear by September at the earliest, much like the schedule that the current "Destiny" game was released back in 2014. In the meantime, Bungie has continued to update the current title with patches and major DLCs. The latest update, "Rise of Iron," has just been released.
