The finals of ABC's dance competition television series "Dancing with the Stars" season 25 kicked off last Monday. First to be eliminated was Canadian actor Drew Scott with his partner Emma Slater. The pair wowed the judges with their two performances during the night. However, other competitors did even better.
Scott and Slater were the first pair of the night. The dance duo started with a Paso Doble routine to the tune of Rayelle's "Get Ready." The judges awarded Scott and Slater with 36 points out of 40. Their Freestyle round dance performance was even better than their redemption routine. The pair danced to the pop song "Ding-dong Daddy of the D-Car Line" by Cherry Poppin' Daddies.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Scott and Slater's freestyle performance in a Ukrainian team room-inspired stage was exciting and one of the best routines of the night.
Scott and Slater had a total score of 75. However, the other three pairs scored higher points. Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold scored a perfect score of 80. Violinist Lindsey Stirling and dance partner Mark Ballas also opened the finals with a perfect score of 80. Finally, television star Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson survived the competition with 76 points. Only one point ahead the Scott and Slater pair.
During an interview with On the Red Carpet, Scott commended his partner Slater for her guidance and help throughout the competition. Scott said, "It's such a blessing to be in the final four and to do this entire journey with Emma. She's such an amazing choreographer and positive spirit. I could not have done this without all of her energy." The "Property Brothers" star also looked back on his participation in "Dancing with the Stars" and realized how much he has improved as a dancer. "It blows my mind and when we looked back at the first dances, to see that growth," he added.
The next episode will air on Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
