Cooperative puzzle game 'DYO' introduces in-game split screen mechanics

Cooperative platforming game "DYO" is coming to Steam on Feb, 14.

"DYO" is a platforming game about two minotaurs trying to escape a labyrinth, similar to several other co-op games, "DYO" has a split screen function that divides the screen into two parts – the left side for player one and the right side for player two. However, that is where its similarities with other split screen games end. Usually the split screen is there to keep the focus on one particular player, but in "DYO" it is not a means to separate player one from player two – it is one of the game's in-game mechanics.

In "DYO" players need to manipulate light and perspective in order to open up a path into the other player's side of the split screen. Once one of the players' characters crosses over into the other side, they can then assist the other player with puzzles or by pushing things for them or boosting them up.

A more vivid example of this can be found in the game's announcement trailer.

The trailer was uploaded on YouTube on Jan, 20. Around 50 seconds long, the trailer showcases how light and perspective play a big part in "Dyo." Aside from being a cooperative platforming game, at the heart of it, "Dyo" is a cooperative puzzle game that demands teamwork from both players.

The trailer also went on to show how the split screen mechanic would work.

"DYO" has yet to be released, but a Steam Greenlight page is available for those who want to learn more about the quirky and unique cooperative puzzle. The summary on the game's page reads: "Play as two minotaurs. Connect your screens to help each other out and escape the maze"

The game currently has 30 unique levels to offer, alongside a rewind mechanic that has yet to be explained. There is also a game mode known as level editor, which will allow players of the upcoming game to create their own puzzles and scenarios.
