The new trailer for the upcoming role-playing video game "Code Vein" shows bloody boss fights and cinematic animations, literally asking players to misbehave.

The teaser gives a peek into the game's spiky architecture and cyberpunk-goth characters in grand costumes and carrying interesting sets of weapons, particularly deadly ornate swords. Also seen for the first time are the towering bosses and the trash mobs.

"Code Vein" is often described as a "Dark Souls meets anime" kind of game.

According to developer Bandai Namco, the thrilling action RPG will let players "feast on the blood of enemies" on an adventure across a huge interconnected world. The player will play the role of a vampire, whose mission is to unlock the world's mysterious sanguine past.

The game is set in a not-too-distant dystopian world, where a mysterious disaster has destroyed the world, leaving only lifeless graves of giant skyscrapers, now pierced by Thorns of Judgment.

A hidden society of Revenants called the Vein was able to survive the destruction. In exchange for their memories, they have been blessed with various powers, and a new thirst for blood.

"Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity," Bandai warns on the game's website. The key to success is unity between players' characters to survive in a world overrun by the Lost. They can use their combined strength and the power of Blood Veil to protect each other and defeat the enemies.

Using Gifts powered by their enemy's blood, players can also increase their strength, weaken enemies, and utilize new weapon abilities.

Months prior to its release, "Code Vein" has so far gotten very positive reviews. Gamereactor said it is "unique in its own right," while Critical Gamer described it as "highly satisfying."

"Code Vein" will be released sometime in 2018, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
