'Chicago Fire' season 5 spoilers: big change for Dawson; New romance confirmed

"Chicago Fire" is returning for a fifth season but it will see several new faces and some changes. As stated in a report from TV Guide, Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) is going to see one of the most significant changes as she may be leaving her career as a firefighter behind due to the fact that she is now a mother.

According to the report, her son is now her number one priority and this might force her to consider her career options. Her boyfriend, Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), is also a firefighter and the chances of them getting hurt while on the job is too much of a risk now that they have someone else to look after.

"Two people running into burning buildings is not great. Both of us could get hurt," Spencer told TVGuide, indicating that one of them, particularly Dawson, is going to try a career that it is less dangerous. It is further revealed that Dawson might be working full-time as an EMT but even this type of career can be dangerous.

A report from Ecumenical News reveals that new faces in the show will also be changing up the dynamics. One such newcomer is Scott Elrod who will be portraying a doctor named Travis Brenner. Elrod is also known for playing a doctor before on "Grey's Anatomy."

The report further reveals that Travis is going to kick up a relationship with Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and it is hinted that Travis will cause some sort of mischief within the first three episodes. How Travis will interact with the rest of the characters has yet to be revealed.

It is further explained that Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) of "Chicago Fire" and Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) of "Chicago PD" will be getting romantically involved as well, creating an inter-series relationship that could signal even more crossovers.

"Chicago Fire" season 5 premieres this Oct. 11.
