Chelsea transfer rumours, news: Chelsea value left-back Ryan Bertrand at £8m

Liverpool and Tottenham are weighing up the possibility of taking on Chelsea's Ryan Bertrand who the Daily Express reports appears to be surplus to requirements at the Blues.

He failed to make Mourinho's first team after returning from loan to Aston Villa, despite veteran Ashley Cole's departure to AS Roma for a two-year stint with the Serie A team.

Mourinho opted instead to play Cesar Azpilicueta.

But that doesn't mean other teams queuing up for the 24-year-old left back will get him easily.

Chelsea are demanding £8m for their man and have already knocked back Liverpool's £6m bid.

As Chelsea remain fixed on £8m, both Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Swansea left-back Ben Davies as a possible alternative.

The Independent reports new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has told chairman Daniel Levy he'd be happy with either Davies or Ryan.

But if Liverpool and Tottenham don't snap him up, Ryan need not worry, as Southampton, Aston Villa and Hull have all expressed an interest.
