'Call of Duty: Black Ops 4' rumors: Next game to be set in the future again

While its competitor "Battlefield" is rumored to be revisiting World War II, the "Call of Duty" franchise seems to be going back to the future for ideas on their sequel, as the next game is rumored for be "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4."

Website Kotaku is also confident that they have confirmed that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" is happening this year. Though it should be noted that the "Black Ops" sub-franchise of "Call of Duty" actually has a different developer, which is why the previous "Call of Duty: WW2" was set in World War II, meaning "Black Ops 4" should not be confused as the project of "WW2's" developer.

The said developer for "Black Ops 4" is Treyarch, while the developer of the previous "WW2" is Sledgehammer Games. Both, however, are owned by publisher Activision and are both "Call of Duty" games and follow the same scripted gameplay formula and multiplayer modes.

Still, Activision has not announced anything official yet, meaning changes could still be in order, though one National Basketball Association (NBA) star has apparently teased "Black Ops 4." The said NBA star was James Harden, who was caught in footage walking toward the court wearing what appears to be a "Black Ops 4" cap and wearing a camouflaged sweater.

The said cap bears the alternative Roman numeral number four with four "IIII" instead of the usual "IV." This was Harden's get-up during his team's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. A lot of people believe this to be an indication for a premature tease for the military first-person shooter "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4." One anonymous source has also confirmed that the "IIII" logo on Harden's cap is the same as the one "Black Ops 4" will be using, or rather "Black Ops IIII."

The usual proven practice by Activision is that "Call of Duty" game is usually announced during April or May, meaning Harden's tease might not be too far-fetched and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" may actually be in development now and might soon be revealed."
