Everyone's favorite fictional Brit heroine, Bridget Jones, is back as Renee Zellweger will be reprising the role in the upcoming film, "Bridget Jones's Baby," which is set to premiere next year.
The character was last seen on the big screen in 2004's "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," and while Bridget is now 43 and still single, she is also pregnant with a baby that belongs to either Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) or billionaire boyfriend Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey).
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly magazine (via People), Zellweger, Firth, and Dempsey talked about their roles and how they felt while making the movie.
"She's a bit mature and has moved on, as we all have," said Zellweger of her character.
And while she is still the same woman that everybody knows and loves, fans will find that Bridget will be sporting a more slender figure in the third installment of the film. For the first two installments of the film, Zellweger prepared to become Bridget by famously gaining 20 pounds for the role, apart from perfecting her British accent.
Director Sharon Maguire explained the heroine's weight loss to EW, telling the magazine that they all loved the thought that Bridget finally reached her ideal weight after 15 years, as this has always been a huge goal for the character since the first movie. But while Bridget has achieved this, it doesn't make a difference in her love life.
"[She's] somewhere between a U.K. size 10 or 12… but still hadn't solved any of her issues about love and loneliness," said Maguire.
While Bridget was torn between Mark and Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) in the previous films, this time around, she will be choosing between Mark and Jack as she isn't sure who among the two is the father of her unborn child.
Firth said that while his character did not think that Daniel was the better man in the first two installments, Jack will prove to be an intimidating and worthy adversary.
"This guy Jack seems to be more of the charming good guy, and in some ways that's scarier," said the actor.
As for Dempsey, the "Grey's Anatomy" alum said that being in the film "completely reinvigorated" him after his exit from the hit ABC show.
"With Grey's, you're just grinding it out. In this instance, you take the time to get through things," said Dempsey.
"Bridget Jones's Baby" premieres on Sept. 16, 2016.
