Fans waiting for the remake of the monster flick "Bride of Frankenstein" may have to wait some more as Universal Pictures is delaying its filming for the time being. Director Bill Condon previously announced that the film was set to start production at the start of February next year.

According to Deadline, Universal has now decided to put the production on hold. The film outfit released a statement about their decision:

"After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone 'Bride of Frankenstein.' None of us want to move too quickly to meet a released date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together."

The actress reported to play the titular part is Angelina Jolie while Javier Bardem will portray Frankenstein.

Deadline added that both Jolie and Bardem are still attached to the project even if there's a delay. Sources told the website that the movie was being put on hold so more work could be done on its script.

The writer for the film, David Koepp, said in 2016 interview with Collider that "Bride of Frankenstein" would be a "tale of liberation."

However, it seems that the script did not pass the standards of everyone involved in the production, and now they're going to go back to the drawing board. The news of the movie's delay will clear Jolie's schedule as she starts filming the sequel of Disney's "Maleficent" early next year.

This development could cast more doubt on the marketability of Universal Pictures' plan to create a cinematic universe featuring their iconic monsters. "The Mummy" remake's lackluster performance at the box office may have also contributed to decision to put "Bride of Frankenstein" on hold.
