Boxing rumors 2015: Shane Mosley snags 49th career win

"Sugar" Shane Mosley continues to prove that he still has the punching power in him, winning via 10th round stoppage over southpaw Patrick Lopez of Venezuela at the Roberto Duran arena in Panama last Thursday.

It was Mosley's second win after announcing his return to boxing. The triumph was Mosley's 49th win in his career. He now totes a 49–9–1 card, 41 via knockout. It was his second win this year after stopping Ricardo Mayorga in August.

At 44, Mosley proved yet again that age is just a number. Aside from showing his punching power, Mosley showed that he is still as tough as nails. He suffered a cut above his right eye resulting from an accidental head butt by Lopez in the second round.

Ironically, that was the same round that Mosley knocked Lopez down before dropping Lopez twice in the 10th round and the total knockout win (TKO) win.

With the win over Lopez, Mosley plans to keep on fighting, although it remains to be seen who will be his next opponent. While he did hint that he wants a rematch with former boxers who dealt him a loss (i.e. Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, and Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez), the 44-year-old boxer may find it difficult to set up such.

Mayweather has retired while Pacquiao is expected to follow suit by April 2016. Cotto and Alvarez are unlikely to consider Mosley as both have set their sights on younger opponents who can rack in more money.

Mosley insists that he is far from finished and is more concerned over glory rather than the money he and his opponents stand to make.

Sadly, it's rare to see a fighter who sees things the same way he does, so it remains to be seen who could possibly step in the ring and get it on with the future Hall of Famer.
