Hugh Jackman already ended his historic run as Wolverine with "Logan" and he was adamant that nothing will coax him up from that retirement, not even the possibility of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, in a recent conversation with "Captain America" actor Sebastian Stan, the "X-Men" alum sang a different tune about the matter.
Appearing at the Ace Comic-Con panel, Stan, who portrays Bucky Barnes in the Marvel films, shared how he recently spoke with Jackman about the idea of reclaiming the iconic mutant's claws to debut in the MCU while sitting together at the Golden Globe. Stan was pretty vague about their exchange, but here is how it went, according to reports:
"Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman, I didn't know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, 'Am I going to see you soon?' I don't know. But he said a couple of things to me and I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to get into trouble with somebody."
He continued, "I asked him though because I kept thinking whether or not Logan was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing or whatever and he said to me he's been thinking about it and it's been on his mind. So, I don't know, he may be."

The prospect of the X-Men sharing the same screen with the Avengers has long been talked about. Jackman himself has always been excited about that happening, but it remained far-fetched until Disney's recent acquisition of 20<sup>th Century Fox. While it is now a real possibility for Wolverine to show up at some point, the opportunity seemed to have come a little too late for Jackman, who already announced his retirement from the role shortly before the merger became official.
The actor previously said he made a pause when news of the Disney/Fox deal picked up steam, but he ultimately decided to fully move on from his superhero gig. Despite this, he still wants that dream crossover to happen with a different actor. As he put it, "the ship has sailed for me but for someone else, I would like to see Wolverine in there."
For now, fans can only keep their fingers crossed. Marvel has not announced anything official about the X-Men/Avengers crossover yet, and Stan's statement is by no means any confirmation, so it is best to be taken with a healthy grain of salt.
