'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date: Battle with Beast Titan to cap the series?

 Funimation

Previous rumors have said that the upcoming season 2 of the anime adaptation of "Shingeki no Kyojin" will be the end of the anime series. Since the original manga is still ongoing, it is said that the episodes in the new season will be altered, with the climax being a battle with new enemies, including the Beast Titan.

At the end of the first season, it was hinted that there will be revelations on the connection between Titans and the human settlements. It has already been revealed that at least one of the squad members, Annie, can in fact transform into a Titan. It is also hinted that some other members of the team like Reiner, Bertolt, and Ymir can also transform. In addition, since the series will end with season 2, a final confrontation between the Titans and the protectors of the human settlements will also appear, and there may even deaths among the main characters.

Meanwhile, the identity of the Beast Titan will also be revealed, supposedly before the finale's battle will take place.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is already confirmed, although a specific release date has yet to come out. Previous speculations said that the new series continuation will premiere towards the end of 2016. However, new rumors now say that because of prior commitments, the new season will launch early next year instead.

Reportedly, the creative team is having a hard time adapting the continuing story arcs from the original "Shingeki no Kyojin" manga in order to seamlessly introduce the anime series' end. In addition, it is said that the director of the anime is also currently working on other projects, most specially the ongoing "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" show. Speculations now place "Attack on Titan" to premiere as early as February next year.
