The Arizona Cardinals had recently signed running back Chris Johnson to address their troubles at the position; but he will be out for one to two weeks to nurse a pulled hamstring.

Johnson was watching from the sidelines Saturday when the Cardinals lost 22–19 their second consecutive preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.

Next for the Cardinals are the Oakland Raiders whom they will face on Aug. 30 at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was the one who confirmed Johnson's injury, which was sustained during their practice last Thursday. He was also the one who said that Johnson will be missing one to two weeks of action.

Johnson was signed by Arizona last Monday to a one-year, $870,000 deal, which does not have a signing bonus but comes with performance incentives.

The Cardinals decided to ink the three-time Pro Bowler because starter Andre Ellington and third-round pick David Johnson missed action in the offseason due to hamstring injuries.

But they already returned and the rookie Johnson had a great showing against the Chargers having 13 carries for 66 yards and two receptions for 15 yards.

Meanwhile, the veteran Johnson has yet to be seen on the field for the Cardinals as he tries to bounce back from a lackluster season with the New York Jets.

The 29-year-old played athlete played in 16 regular season games for the Jets in the 2014 season, which saw him tally career-lows with 155 carries for 663 yards and one touchdown.

It was the first time in Johnson's career that he failed to rush for more than 1,000 yards.

Johnson may not have played a game yet for his new team, but he is expected to get a fair share of playing time once the 2015 season begins even though he is the third string running back.

The Cardinals will open their season at home against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 13.
