Apple Watch vs Apple Watch Sport: Which wearable to get while waiting for Apple Watch 2?

Although it is already expected that Apple will launch a second-gen wearable, it may still be some time before the Apple Watch 2 is released. In the meantime, which smartwatch should Apple fans get between the original Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Sport?

While the two versions are in the same smartwatch line from the Cupertino-based tech giant, the Apple Watch Sport is considered to be a more modest version of the base model Apple wearable. Indeed, the Sport edition comes at a more budget-friendly price than the Apple Watch, though the premium version already has its price down from when it was first released last year.

Since the Apple Watch Sport is dubbed to be a niche wearable for users with active lifestyles, it is made from an aluminum alloy with a plastic back plate. Meanwhile, being a top-tier, more flexible edition, the Apple Watch is designed to give a more polished look. It is made from stainless steel, while the back plate is made from ceramic. Since the Sport edition is offered as a fitness tracker, the Apple Watch is the one that has a number of band choices, and users can choose a strap to suit their needs.

While the two can have interchangeable faces, the Apple Watch has a sapphire crystal glass, which looks and feels much better than the Ion-X material found on the Apple Watch Sport.

Observers agree that in terms of performance, both editions are on par with each other, since they share the same specs sheet. This means that although they only differ in aesthetics and design, the pricier Apple Watch is the better choice.
